Free Halloween Night Lands in Old Town Lewisville on October 24

Lewisville Parks and Recreation is closing out Make a Difference Day weekend with something aimed squarely at families: Little Monsters on Main, a free Halloween night set for Saturday, October 24, from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. at Old Town Lewisville Plaza, 151 W. Church St.

The event runs three and a half hours and packs in three distinct activities — trick-or-treating along the plaza, an outdoor movie screening, and hayrides through Old Town — making it one of the more logistically dense free offerings the city puts on each fall.

What to Expect and When to Arrive

The 6:00 p.m. start gives families daylight for at least the first portion of trick-or-treating, which matters when you are wrangling young children in costumes through a busy public space. Old Town Lewisville Plaza sits at the corner of W. Church Street in the heart of the historic district, walkable from the surrounding blocks of shops and restaurants that give the neighborhood its character.

The outdoor movie screening is free, so no tickets need to change hands at the gate. Bring a blanket or low lawn chair if you want to settle in comfortably; the plaza’s open layout accommodates both standing crowds and seated viewers. The hayrides thread through Old Town itself, which means participants get a moving look at one of the more distinctive streetscapes in Denton County — brick-fronted storefronts, period lighting, and the kind of compact urban grid that predates the suburban sprawl defining most of the region.

The 9:30 p.m. end time is late enough for older kids but worth noting for parents of toddlers who may want to plan an early exit after the trick-or-treating portion winds down.

Old Town as the Right Setting

The choice of Old Town is not incidental. The plaza at 151 W. Church St. gives Parks and Recreation a contained, pedestrian-friendly footprint where trick-or-treating can happen without the traffic concerns that come with neighborhood streets. The Lewisville High School Homecoming Parade is also routing through Old Town just ten days earlier, on October 14, which means the district is hosting back-to-back community anchor events this month — a signal of how central the area has become to the city’s calendar.

For residents who have not visited Old Town recently, the Halloween event is a practical excuse to reacquaint themselves with the district on foot after dark, which shows the neighborhood differently than a daytime errand does.

Pairing the Evening with Make a Difference Day

October 24 also carries the Keep Lewisville Beautiful Make a Difference Day tree giveaway, offered in conjunction with the city’s “For the Love of Lewisville” event. Registered Lewisville residents can claim a free tree earlier that day, which means a family could conceivably pick up a tree in the afternoon and then head into Old Town for the Halloween festivities that evening. The two events do not share a venue, so there is no logistical conflict — just a full Saturday if you choose to take advantage of both.
