Three Ways to Plug Into the Arts at Lewisville Grand Theater This September

A Full Month of Free and Low-Cost Arts at 100 N. Charles St.

If you have not been inside the Lewisville Grand Theater lately, September gives you at least three distinct reasons to fix that. The building at 100 N. Charles St. is hosting weekly music sessions, a one-night artist talk, and a pair of solo exhibitions on their final days — all compressed into a four-week window that wraps on Sept. 27.

Here is a practical rundown of what is happening, when doors open, and what it will cost you.

Acoustic Friday Jams: Every Friday, 7–9 p.m.

The Visual Art League of Lewisville runs its Acoustic Friday Jams at the Grand on Sept. 6, 13, 20, and 27 — every Friday this month, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Admission is free and the format is an open song circle welcoming anyone who plays an acoustic instrument, regardless of experience level.

That last point is worth emphasizing. This is not a ticketed concert where you sit and watch professionals. It is a participatory jam session. Bring a guitar, a fiddle, a mandolin, or a ukulele and expect to be waved into the circle. If you only want to listen, that is fine too — spectators are welcome.

Why It Fits a Busy September Schedule

Because the sessions run every single Friday this month, there is no single date to protect on your calendar. Miss the Sept. 6 opener and you have three more chances. The two-hour window — ending at 9 p.m. — also makes it a realistic weeknight outing for anyone with an early Saturday.

Lewisville does not have a large dedicated acoustic music venue in its walkable downtown core, which makes this monthly series at the Grand something of a community infrastructure piece. Four consecutive Fridays in one month is the densest concentration the series gets.

Art Talk: Jennifer Monet Cowley — Sept. 8, 7:00 p.m.

One week into the month, on Monday, Sept. 8, the Visual Art League hosts its monthly Art Talk. This edition features artist Jennifer Monet Cowley presenting “My Journey, My Art” at 7:00 p.m. inside the Grand.

The Art Talk series is free and open to the public. These sessions typically run about an hour and give attendees direct access to a working artist’s process and perspective — the kind of conversation that does not happen at a gallery opening where the artist is busy greeting a crowd. If you follow local visual arts or are curious about what practicing artists in the region are actually doing, this format delivers more substance per minute than most alternatives.

Note that the LISD Board of Trustees also holds a work session the same evening, Sept. 8, at the LISD Administrative Center starting at 6:00 p.m. If you follow district business, you can time both.

Two Solo Shows Closing in September

”Tears to Glory” by Yoonsoo Nam — Closes Sept. 19

The gallery inside the Lewisville Grand Theater is currently showing a solo exhibition by artist Yoonsoo Nam titled “Tears to Glory.” Sept. 19 is the final day, with gallery hours running 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you have been meaning to get there, the window is short.

”She Found Her Way” by Crys Nelson — Closes Sept. 26

Running slightly longer is the solo exhibition by artist Crys Nelson, “She Found Her Way,” which closes Sept. 26. Gallery hours that day are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Sept. 26 is also the final day of the Visual Art League’s juried group show “Fresh Ideas 2026,” which carries extended evening hours — the gallery stays open until 10:00 p.m. on that closing night. Three exhibitions wrapping on the same day means Sept. 26 functions as an informal last-call event for the Grand’s entire September gallery program.
